If your kids are like many, many other kids (and even some adults) around the world, they are looking forward to the final installment of the Harry Potter movie franchise. Kids who have memorized all the Harry Potter spells, and who can name each and every one of the characters by name, are both excited and sad as the debut approaches. The eighth and final movie is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011. It is called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and it is based on the book of the same name. With the knowledge that this beloved series is soon coming to an end, we thought it would be nice to think of a way to celebrate the final movie in style.
As a way to prepare for the finale, why not host a marathon viewing party for your friends or relatives where you watch each of the previous movies? You can work your way through the list of Harry Potter movies, watching them back to back. This is a way that you can not only enjoy the movies over again, but refresh your memory of plot points and developments in preparation for viewing of the final movie. Whether it is something as significant as the death of Dumbledore, or as minor as what Luna says to Harry when she realizes that he can see Thestrals, you never know what bit of knowledge will increase your enjoyment of the final installment.
To give your viewing party an even cooler theme, you can plan to serve your guests some treats from the world of muggles and wizards. One of the most popular treats in that world is butter beer (which is not actually made with alcohol–it is entirely non alcoholic). To create your own version, most recipes create something that is very much like an ice cream float made with cream soda.
