Truck Bed Accessories

If your truck is used as a heavy duty utility vehicle then the likelihood is that the truck bed gets an enormous amount of use.  To help make the most of the bed there are a lot of truck accessories available.

If you often carry a high load then you may want to consider buying a headache rack.  These fit between the truck bed and the cab and work as protection for the glass from cargo shifting.  This in turn gives a lot of extra safety for the cab passengers as otherwise an accident could cause the goods to shunt forwards through the glass.  Sometimes truck racks have a slanted appearance which also gives extra shade from the sun, which is particularly useful if you live in a hot area.  They are easy to attach, with no drilling required, and also provide a strong structure to fix cargo or ladders to.  Though highly functional you can also buy custom racks to make your truck look stylish.

Another useful add on is a cargo bar.  These are fitted across the width of the truck bed and help manage your goods so that they don’t slide around causing damage to the cargo or the bed.  You can choose between those with a telescoping fit or a ratchet fit and often they come with a cargo net attached.  If you are worried about damage to the bed then a good investment would be a truck bed liner.

Truck bed rails are a final, and very important, accessory.  They are always made from extremely strong and durable metal, such as stainless steel, and are fitted along the length of the truck bed.  Their first use is to act as a place to anchor cargo down, preventing it from slipping and sliding around the bed causing scratches.  Secondly, by their very position on top of the truck bed, they prevent small dents and dings caused when cargo is put into and taken out of the truck by lifting it over the sides.
