If you are considering purchasing a rice cooking device then you may be confused about which one to get. Many people choose to get a Zojirushi rice cooker because they make some of the best machines available. That said, there are plenty of different Japanese rice cookers to choose from including Tiger, Sanyo, Hitachi, Toshiba, Panasonic and the aforementioned Zojirushi.
Of course the Japanese are known to eat plenty of rice. Some people will even eat if at all three mealtimes. This may seem like a lot to us however it is the staple food in Japan. The Japanese rice cooker market is dominated by Tiger and Zojirushi. If you ask a Japanese person which is best they will likely tell you “both”. As non-committal as the Japanese are, this is basically an endorsement for either of these two makers. If you want the best, choose a Zojirushi or Tiger machine.
It is interesting because outside Japan, the other manufacturers mentioned above are probably more widely known. This could be because the two top brands specialise in kitchen appliances and it has only been recently that the popularity of rice cookers in the West has started to increase.
If you want a top of the range model, it is not going to come cheap. So the question you have to ask yourself is, how often am I going to eat rice? For those of you who plan on having it regularly, at least three or four times a week or more, then it starts to make sense to get a quality appliance. The more you spend on a rice cooker, the better the final product will be. However it is not the case that a rice cooker that costs twice as much will make rice that is twice as good. You have to choose a machine that suits your budget.
